MBT Adherence and Competence Scale
An essential part of becoming an MBT therapist is becoming knowledgable and competent about “adherent” MBT—that is, the official version of MBT that is evidence-based in the treatment of borderline and antisocial personality disorders. To that end, Anthony Bateman worked with MBT experts from around the world to develop the MBT Adherence and Competence Scale, which outlines the essential therapeutic techniques of MBT. This scale can be used to guide discussion of therapy sessions in supervision, to determine clinician adherence to the model, and to identify clinicians’ strengths and weaknesses in the different domains of MBT.
